TURKEY: THE EVROS REFUGEES

As controls in southern Italy and Spain have become stricter, the area along the Evros river border between Greece and Turkey has become the new refugee corridor to Europe. The Evros is particularly dangerous in winter. In 2011 alone, 48 people drowned. The camera follows the refugees from Istanbul across the Evros to Athens.
